+ Michelin Philippines has recently announced the opening of a Tyreplus service centre in San Dionisio, Paranaque City. Tyreplus is an international car service centre and part of Michelin’s global network of car maintenance professionals, which aims to provide a one-stop shop for drivers to maintain and service vehicles. The centre offers a wide choice of tyre brands, lubricants, batteries and suspension components. + The Board of Investments (BOI) has approved P1.2 billion worth of investments from four parts suppliers of Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP), which is producing the Vios as its entry model in the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) programme. The parts makers will each be churning out a capacity equivalent to 230,000 units over the six-year life of the registered car model. Production period will be from August 2018 to August 2024. Under the CARS programme, continued support is provided to the parts manufacturing activities of the participants. It also allows for the outsourcing of parts to be owned by the registered carmaker. The company claims that this kit will be vital for when unexpected breakdowns happen, especially in urban centres with frequent heavy traffic such as Metro Manila.
